One of the things I have missed from my previous ministries was the intense team ministry of which I got to a part. I was sharing this with David a while back and he said, “well, why don’t you just start doing it again?” SO I HAVE. We started this week. There are 6 of us: Scott Donavan, Eric Jackson, Emmit Nolan, Patrick Witherow, Greg Sturm and me. We meet together everyday – well actually we don’t officially meet on Saturdays, but we do every other day. We eat together, we pray together, we study together, we share together. Basically we have committed to do life together for the summer and it is already awesome.
Friendship is an incredible thing. Real community is literally transforming. I hope you are taking the intentional steps to cultivate a real community in your life. People with whom you can be open and honest, who you can laugh with and play with. I hope you are finding people who will love you like you are while helping you become more than you imagined you could be.
Those kinds of relationships don’t come easy and they don’t come without some intentional development. You have to make a big investment to get a huge return. You have to initially make some sacrifices and perhaps even become more vulnerable than your comfortable being, but in the end you find you have finally found a safe place to grow.
